MacBook running to slow?
Has your Macbook been sluggish as of late? There are a wide number of possible causes. Most computers experience a little slowing down when heavy demands are placed on them. Sometimes, you may find your laptop slows down simply from too many programs running at once.
If still experiencing frustratingly slow load times even with a single app running, it’s time to have our team take a look.

MacBook with a flashing question mark?
If you started up your MacBook and were greeted with a folder with a question mark in the middle it might mean that your MacBook’s disk has failed. But before you panic, there may be another explanation, and you may be able to fix it.
That folder with a question mark inside indicates that your MacBook can’t find the startup disk and therefore can’t boot. Fixing this issue will involve putting your MacBook into Recovery Mode and choosing the correct startup disk (which is likely to be your Macintosh HD, unless you want to boot from an external drive).
However, if you aren’t seeing your startup disk, or you can’t select it, it may If it’s necessary to repair your disk. To do so you can use Disk Utility – Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility (or click cmd+space and start typing Disk Utility).

Seeing a grey screen at startup?
A blank grey screen may indicate that there is a problem with a firmware update. A grey screen with an Apple logo in the middle may suggest that there is a problem with some software.
You will need to ensure that your MacBook firmware is up to date. This should be a simple case of checking that you have the latest version of macOS installed.
To verify this, you would need to boot your MacBook into Safe Mode. Having done so you may find your MacBook restarts normally on the next boot. We explain how to start up in Safe Mode below.
Once booted into Safe Mode, you can find out if your macOS software version. If updates are needed, this can be done using the App Store. With the App store open, click on updates and select update to install.
If that doesn’t solve the problem you may need to repair your startup disk or disk permissions using Disk Utility.
Seeing a blue screen at startup?
Are you seeing a blue screen or a blue screen with a spinning beachball? This can indicate a problem with the software or a startup item.
You will need to start your MacBook in Safe Mode. When adding your username and password, if the MacBook still doesn’t start up. You may need to check your login startup items.
Is your MacBook failing to start up in Safe Mode? Repair of your startup disk is needed. Repairing disk permissions using Disk Utility can also be completed.

Open System Preferences and your battery health can be checked.
- Go to > System Preferences > Battery.
- Look for “Battery Health”.
- Look for “Service Recommended”.

Have a broken screen to replace?
Fixing a Broken Screen
What is one of the most common issues encountered in offering MacBook repair? This is a broken screen replacement request. Everyone drops their laptop at some point. Possibly somebody stepped on it accidentally. No matter the cause, we can diagnose what is wrong. Order a new screen and replace the damaged screen.
Troubleshooting Dark, Blank, or Flickering Screen
Make sure your charger is working and connected to your MacBook. Then, try to turn up the brightness to see if it’s turned off.
Next, try rebooting and running your laptop in safe mode. If it does not help, try resetting PRAM/NVRAM by holding down Command, Option, P, and R for 20 seconds.
If all troubleshooting attempts fail, it is time to bring your system in for diagnostics. We can determine if there’s an issue with your software or a hardware issue with the screen itself.
Problems shutting down your MacBook?
If your MacBook isn’t shutting down it may be still closing apps in the background, the advice here is to be patient, sometimes it can take a while to shut apps if data needs to be saved.
However, there may be an issue with an app that is stopping your MacBook from being able to close. Look in the Dock to see if there is a bouncing app icon, that would indicate that something needs attention. Perhaps it’s just Pages or Word asking whether you want to save a file.
You may need to Force Quit if something is causing a hold-up and can’t be fixed – beware you may lose some data though.
If you can’t Force Quit, press and hold the power button until the MacBook switches off.
Note that when you restart your MacBook it may ask you if you want to reopen all the apps that you had opened previously. We’d advise that you say no to this option just in case something you had open causes the same problem again if it reopens.
Is your MacBook frozen?
Has your MacBook frozen in the middle of a task, or an app has become unresponsive? It is possible to “Force Quit” the app or task by right-clicking/control-clicking on its icon in the Dock and choosing “Force Quit”.
You can also “Force Quit” an app by pressing Command+Alt+Escape at the same time.
Pressing command+ctl+eject on your MacBook laptop can also force a reboot. Holding down the power button for 10 seconds will also achieve the same results.
When you have to Force Quit or reboot your MacBook, you can possibly lose some data. Are you using Time Machine? A backup can help recover the data loss during a forced reboot of a frozen MacBook.
